What is a spam mail
Though ,
definition of spam is not much complicated, but, simply it defines as the same mail send to many person for not so good reason mainly using
bots. The mails we receive as spam generally quarantined by our mail service provider as much as it can.
In one line , spam is unsolicited mails send in bulk.
What's the harm
First of all you get irritated . Your spam filter does not able to resist all the spams targeted to your inbox. Spams you receive are mainly of two types, one is bulk mail and the other is
commercial mails. Commercial mails lures you by fake products and tries to convince you to buy it.
Spammers may engage in fraud to send out their messages in bulk. They often use false names, addresses, phone numbers, and other contact information to set up
disposable accounts with popular providers to make you convince about what they are saying. Finally you may lead to a payment by your card to some frauds.
How your mail address reach them
Spammers ( those who send spam mails )more often collect email addresses from social networking sites like facebook , twitter etc, websites, customer details, online groups, and viruses, malwares which crawl your address books. They use bots to search online for random email addresses that you provide and you may be the next target, if not already.
What to do
Well, stay cautious and do not open unknown messages. Send those in spam folder. Normally your mail provider identifies spam, and takes action such as blocking the message or shutting off the source of the message.
But each and everywhere online, social pages ask for email. Here I have found a cool solution:
Usually you type your email as plain text in forums, on Twitter or on facebook makes you an easy spam target. Spam bots and email harvesters constantly browse these sites to get new emails as explained earlier.
Instead of shearing your email address on your public profile, you may give a short link provided by the site :
scr.im
Anyone want to mail you, has to go to the site to see your email address which resist the auto-bots to access it.
